and as most rumors go, this one is completely untrue .... I have now heard from 4 people - one, a very good friend who I would tell before it happened, that I am closing .... 

Well, we want to clear this up once and for all.  

We are NOT closing!  

Now, there is a 3-week wait for an appointment, maybe somebody got that confused!

  

good morning bloggers .... can somebody say blond-lo?

We hope you all had a great weekend!

So, you know we took care of our brunettes for the fall with our fabulous 'bred' color - different shades of browns with very little red casting ....

Now its time to darken up my blondes hair for the fall now that your summer glow is gone -

And so you know when I say darker, I don't mean brown chunks or stripes through the hair!

My vision of darker blonde hair for the fall is 'blond-lo' ....

This is when you take one to two shades of a cool dark blonde and incorporate that to your existing light blonde hair ... weaved the same as highlights ... tight and well, well wellllll blended!!

This will allow you to have more depth and lots of dimension!

haircuts, keratins and highlights .... oh myyyy

not to mention the occasional 'slip ins without an appointment' for the bang trims and neck fur!

We're just soooo busy we didn't get a chance to blog .... 

but we'll be back in Full Force for Fall !

sooooo,  had a client come in last week for a haircut that I had not seen in a while .... she proceeds to tell me that last time she was here ... "you cut my hair like a mushroom" ... so I looked at her and had to ask ... "why did you come back?" .... and she said, "because I need a New York haircut!" .... whaaaaaat???

I've recently heard from a little birdie that she is really happy with her hair .... Go New York!!  And we are also happy that she came back - even if it did take her 4 years! :)

Now eat this!

Give your traditional pancakes a rest and try this simple, 3 ingredient recipe - they are delicious!!

2 ripe bananas mashed

2 whole eggs (mixed into bananas with fork)

2 heaping tablespoons of almond butter and mix well

add to this mix some walnuts, berries or chocolate chips

add a small amount of coconut oil to pan and cook - but be careful not to burn as this is not your traditional pancake that will get dry with bubbles on top when its time to turn - so just check and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how great and easy they are to make.  

Great snack before or after a good workout!  3 ingredients and packed with protein!  So good you don't even need syrup!

AK for short ... I just had to get this out there how unbelievable this type of therapy is.  More importantly, how amazing, genius and incredible is David Dauphine ( dauphinechiropractic.com )

I've been to him twice now for my Golfer's Elbow (and no, I don't golf) - but doing hair for 30 years now, I developed this incredible pain in my elbow and forearm; after his assessment, alignment, posture recommendation, etc... - no joke - I have no pain - and it was bad!

They don't call him the 'witch doctor' for nothing!  He is the real deal!  I cannot recommend him enough!  If you have an ailment you've been trying to treat - you gotta give this therapy a try.  It's much more involved than just going to the chiropractor.

The human body is a very complex thing and understanding how one area can affect the other is a huge part of this treatment therapy.

Sooooo one of our wonderful male clients (Russel Coley) but we won't mention who his wife is, comes in for a haircut today saying his hair was dry and unruly -- and of course the caring hair stylist that I am asked what he is using in it so he says Pert Plus - (pause)

WTF Russel? No wonder! I don't buy my jeans at Walmart!

So now if you see him on the street - don't walk on by, be sure to let him know how beautiful his hair looks since he broke down and invested in some high dollar shampoo!!

Yeah, that's right ... after another delicious dinner at Highland Ave., we went downstairs at Hollar Mill to D'Lishy and enjoyed some fabulous frozen yogurt!  The place is gorgeous!!  If you haven't been yet, ya gotta check it out!

Stop the Madness!!!

Ladies, please stop with the washing your hair at night, wrapping or tying it up and going to bed!

This is a sure way for breaking your hair off!

Hair is delicate when its wet, so even the slightest tossing in bed is going to cause breakage and frizz.  If you must wash it at night - towel dry as much as you can and apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner mid-shaft to the ends (comb through); then be sure to completely dry it before heading off to sleep - no need to try and style it perfectly - just get all the moisture out.

In the morning, simply spritz with water and comb out any bed-head sections and style as usual.

Just wanted to share my experience with Little's Tatto & Art in Newton (1148 N. Main Ave).

Seth Little is an amazing artist and his facility is spotless!  You know how OCD we are here -  He's a martial artist and a yogi - which I'm sure helps him to maintain a soft-hand while working, which is wonderful when you are sitting there for hours!  He even transformed an older tattoo I had and made it more incredible than I could imagine ...

My experience was awesome!  Can't wait to go back!

It is quite the production!  absolutely brilliant! Even in 3-D!  The music is fantastic - the way they bring that era to a current listening audience!  The soundtrack is sure to be a hit!  and Leonardo di Caprio is so perfect for this role -- like they've transported an actor from the 1920's and dropped him in this production - but Tobey Maguire is sure to get recognition for his role - all around great cast and beautiful movie!

..... and I can't forget Iron Man 3 -- the best one ever!!  Great summer movies !!

Hey there bloggers... as most of you know,  I am all about fitness .... and let me just say there is finally someone and something that kicks my butt!!  His name is Kent Stamey, owner of Crossfit Hickory!  I was very apprehensive about going in the beginning - but I must say it has been the best 10 weeks of training I have ever had.  The atmosphere is awesome - everyone there is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition.  You can do their 'on ramp' introduction and continue on with their daily workouts, do their open gym or get a one-on-one trainer.  They also have an onsite massage therapist, Mary Starnes, who does amazing body therapy!
